nRF52840, SX1262 LoRa, two on-board chip antennas, crammed onto a board that plugs into your DEF CON badge and runs off whatever power it can spare.
No battery. Nothing to charge.
It ships pre-flashed on the official DEF CON build, already set to DEFCONnect.
Plug it in, pair your phone, you're on the con mesh. Nothing to configure.
It's a presale because we're not made of money. Every preorder funds the run and the rest of what Darknet-NG puts on: the contest, the swag, the servers, all of it.
What's on it
MESH RADIO
Semtech SX1262 LoRa, US 915 MHz.
MCU
Nordic nRF52840 on a RAK4630. The canonical Meshtastic nRF52 target, so firmware support isn't an adventure.
ANTENNAS
Two Johanson chip antennas, 915 LoRa and 2.4 GHz BLE.
Both matched on a 4-layer controlled-impedance stackup with 50 ohm feeds, tuned in-house on a VNA.
No whip, no pigtail, nothing hanging off it.
POWER
Badge SAO rail or USB-C, auto-switching.
We bench-tested it. Your host won't brown out when it transmits.
How you use it
OUT OF THE BOX
CLIENT_MUTE, ShortTurbo, low TX at +10 dBm.
Tuned for a room wall-to-wall with nodes where the big infrastructure gear does the long haul. It holds a spot on the mesh without stepping on everyone else.
FROM YOUR PHONE
Config and messaging over BLE in the Meshtastic app.
Every unit ships locked with its own BLE PIN, written on the bag.
WHEN YOU WANT TO TAKE IT APART
Reflash to any Meshtastic build over USB-C, UF2 or web flasher. SWD pads if you go deeper.
It runs standalone on USB-C too, so you can break it at your desk with no badge anywhere near it.
It's a standard SAO header so it'll physically fit other badges. We designed and tested for DC34.
